Aside from the better career mode, little tweaks in the gameplay of NBA 2K19 improves upon the experience from earlier games. If you've played previous entries in the series, you'll find NBA 2K19 pretty familiar. You can follow one player's career, manage a team, play a single game, run a league, or just play minigames in the game's virtual neighborhood. Small refinements in the game include improved stealing and greater rewards for staying in front of a dribbling opponent, as well as a reduced reliance on microtransactions and a more streamlined badge system. Cosmetic changes such as changing clothes or getting a new haircut are now easier as well.

Just like most major triple-A releases, NBA 2K19 is expected to go live around 12 a.m. EDT Sept. 11 or 9 p.m. PDT Sept. 10. These times can vary slightly based on rulings by Sony or Microsoft, but that's the expected time when downloads should begin and all existing preloads should unlock.

In most cases, NBA 2K19 preloads should have begun around Sept. 5 and should be well underway at the time of posting. If you're just buying the game now, a preload will automatically start as soon as the purchase is complete. Otherwise there are ways to trigger the download with an existing pre-order

The Prelude is essentially a full download of NBA 2K19 with all modes locked behind a purchase of the full game. It offers the first few hours of the MyCareer experience, which means you'll be able to take your created baller from the Chinese League to the G-League before your NBA debut. Because your progress is linked to a single save file that's also used for the full game, everything your baller does in the demo will carry over when the game releases Sept. 11.

I've bought this on cartridge. It required a 28gb download on start up. For me the game is great. I've only played about 2 hours in both handheld and tv mode and it looks and feels great. So far 9 out of 10 sounds about right.

Sounds like they went cheap and shipped on 4GB carts. Another deal breaker. Why even bother with a physical release if rhey're going to force the customer to download the whole game anyway? I wish Nintendo would disallow this sort of BS.

@Mountain_Man The main reason I went for physical cart was so I could re-sell the game in future. I usually play these games for a few months and then get rid. That frees up the space on my SD card again so this kinda practice doesn't bother me too much. NBA 2K19 is simply resting in the space where I use to have L.A Noire and Wolfenstein II saved.

I also got this on cartridge. I'm interested, how big this game is, when you download it from e shop.My first play now game ran pretty smooth, even if I had big problems with the defense. But in the 3rd quarter, the game suddenly crashed. Not cool

Even though I love basketball and really want to play a good basketball game handheld, I'm not buying this one. I totally disagree with such load of microtransactions and, if that's not enough, I'll have to download 28 GB even if I buy the physical version. Sorry, but that's not the direction I see video games should be heading for. To me that doesn't sound right. I'm sure people who buy it are gonna have fun, of course, and the 30 fps is not an issue. If the rate is stable, that's fine. But as for the money and data, those are big issues to me

They already patched the game to lower XP gains. Every time you buy into full-priced games with loot boxes and premium currencies, you are encouraging this sleazy behavior. You are part of the problem with this malignant industry.

I mean this is a 100 dollar game with a cash shop COMPLETELY identical to that of mobile free-to-play games. In what universe is that okay? Why do people blindly accept these manipulative, money-grubbing practices? Ugh...

@Medic_alert @FTL thansk for the answers guys. I remember on 2k18's launch, there were quite some input lags when you shot the ball, it wasn't quite responsive.For those who tried 2k19 now, is there any input lag to mention?

@Tibob TBH, as much as I hope that this will happen one day I don't think it will happen anytime soon.The games that Ninty is currently releasing are not the "Arcade" types so it will be really hard to see these games again in the near future, I hope I'm wrong though!

@tourjeff my concern is Ninty are done with the mature-ish racing games like 1080, Waverace etc and are currently thinking that the Labo vehicle pack ticks off some of those racing genres. I mean I'm looking forward to the labo pack for sure but it'll never replace a full WR, 1080 like game. I'm hopeful that GC games never made it to VC on Wii/WiiU because they've been tinkering with HD remasters ala Zelda WW & TP. What I'd give for HD remasters of F-zero, 1080 Avalanche, Waverace Blue Storm etc. Even an HD remaster of ExciteBike 64 or better still another entry in the excite series and I'd blow my load. Anyway, fingers crossed as always for a surprise reveal tonight.

Also this game REVOLVES around microtransactions. You're in for a very VERY long grind if you don't want to buy VC. I bought 2K18 pre-owned and returned it within a week because I felt like I was making little to no progress after many games.

@beazlen1 Oh God no, I agree, these IPs must be mature, I don't mind if they are compatible with Labo but they must be mature.And me too, I would not mind a HD version of those games, would buy them all lolI would also not mind a Metroid Prime HD trilogy, that would be a great addition before getting MP4.Fingers crossed we won't be disappointed tonight!

@Agramonte and another year of people seemingly not realising that any game containing such things are purposely made worse to accommodate and make them attractive. Hence why games such as Battlefront 2 and Shadow of War had to be completely rebalanced after they were removed to make the game work properly. So whilst you may not need to buy them, they still affect you if you play the game

Tons of games make you "struggle"... You not meant to have the best in a week. Microtransactions make it easy for the people who think they should. And the entire game is not behind microtransactions.

Had 2k18 n rated it up there with the best games on the switch. So much so i pre ordered this n its a great game. Dont quite get all the love loss due to microtransactions. These arent forced and its perfectly viable to play the game naturally n level up, get packs etc. Its the same as fifa and ultimate team, buy packs if u like but i prefer to play my way to a good team, its the whole point for me. Each to their own i guess but no way does this game force you to spend one penny more than the admission price. A micro sd card for ya switch may put folk off too but again id say one of these is almost imperative anyway if u plan on playing bigger n better games on switch in the future as more developers push the limits like 2k does, this game is probably the most impressive on switch for me n i include mario, xeno n zelda in that. To answer the person who asked if ya mates can play this with little knowledge id say yeah, if you just want to play exhibitions. Just pick all star teams or classic all star teams as the players stats can make up for any mistimed shots the majority of the time.

@John_Deacon absolutely how small is the cart they used. they should be forced to rename this boll$$ a different name and charge a lower price for the inconvenience. what is the point of physical if you still have such a huge download. it renders the physical pointless. should be relabelled as download jumpstarter edition or something. 0 money from me Physical. When its 15 Digital i may think about a try but not before. realistically we should pass on these kinds of releases to send them a message.

historically, NBA 2K** games end up being at the low end of value, even at flea markets and GameStops, the trade value always ends up less than $8 and resell price is usually no more than $15, so yah, just because saying they are the best, does not make them the best if there is no others
